New/Renewal passport at San Fransisco by mail

I had send my old passport to San Fransisco consulate for renewal..They renewed and send it back friday evening by AIRBORNE Express..The morons at AIRBORNE instead of sending it from San Fransisco to Burbank ( Los Angeles ) send it to Honolulu HI ....Airborne detected the mistake and resend the package from Honolulu to Burbank on saturday and I still haven't received it....They tell me to wait till tomorow ( wed ) ..any experience like this...worst if i loose my passport what should i do ???

I received the new passport and old passport attached
by rubberband ...They have put CANCELLED stamps on old passport though i have valid visa on them...thats ok..
I have applied for AP and I also have a approved H1B petition till dec 2002 ( my visa stamp expires may 2001).....If i get AP soon i will not revalidate my H1B ...even if i dont get AP and i goto India I will use the dropbox at Bombay US consulate for new H1B stamp....Airborne express took 5 days for express mail from San Fransisco to Los Angeles ..the morons routed the packet thru Honolulu Hawaii...when asked why they accepted its their mistake and had no clue for 3 days where was the packet and no idea when i would get it..Finally at 8.30 am today i got the packet...airborne is not as reliable like fedex or ups....my 2 c...airbone has a screwed up tracking and even now it says my passport packet is in Honolulu ;(((

Hope u have a copy of the old passport....report the new one as lost in transit..and apply for a duplicate (of the new one)....
