  • PD current since Oct2011, but no GC yet

    Hi,
My PD is current since start of Oct'11. One month has passed and there are no signs of my GC. My PD remains current in Nov'11 too. I contacted my lawyer and they said they would file for a Service Request with USCIS (which would take minimum 30 days to respond).
What should the next step be?

    Thanks in advance.

I am little lost. Your PD is current so what!!!!!!!!!!!
What is the type of your case? Did you apply once you PD became current?

You don't automatically get the green card just because your priority date is current. Depends on the type of case. Also depends on how many people are in line ahead of you at the CIS location where your case will be sent for you to be interviewed. My priority date was back in July and my interview appointment is scheduled for the middle of November.

        Hello,
Sorry that I did not mention my case type... EB-3 PD of Jun'07, I-140 cleared, I-485 pending. Later company filed EB-2 with inter-file request for I-140. I-140 is cleared.
I was little worried since this is an inter-file case. Wonder how USCIS would know that it needs to pick up my EB-3's pending I-485 case looking at current EB-2 PDs.

Dear Daru786, what should I apply for after PD becomes current?

Dear Demedja, Is an interview always done?

Thanks for all the advice in advance.

          Question

I may suggest to speak to your attorney at this point.
          Good Luck!

            Thanks for the advice.
One more question...Is it advisable to travel to India in such circumstances. I have a valid Advance Parole doc.
            1. Could there be any issue for my re-entry if my I-485 gets cleared before I leave US, but do not receive actual Green card before start of travel?
            2. Could there be any issue for my re-entry if my I-485 gets cleared after I leave US? Can I re-enter using AP doc?
