denial in the past and applying for green card in the usa.

I was denied a change of status from j1 to f1 due to abdonment becuase i did not have a j1 waiver then and uscis only sent me a denial letter.I am out of status now .I have a j1 wavier now, married now and applying for green card and have my interwiew next month.I talked to an attorney and he said there will be no problem.I am wondering if I was placed on removal proceedding due to the change of status denial in the past and therefore might be detained during my green card interwiew.My lawyer says there will no problem since i did not received any notice to appear before immigration court.What can I do????Please any suggestions???
