  • Unable to get birth certificate or affidavit from parents

    Hi,

I have a special case, and not sure, what are my alternatives. Please help.

My I-485 date is near, and I don't have my birth certificate with me, and I don't think that my parents will have it (or they may have it, but I don't know). The problem is, they are also not willing to give any affidavit for me. I am wondering, what are my alternatives in the absence of birth certificate or affidavit from parents ?

    Thanks,
    AK

hi AK, when is your interview date? Are you the applicant? So you didn't submit a copy in the package, then?

I think a certified copy of your BC will do. My husband, the petitioner only had a certified copy when we went for the interview and it wasnt a problem at all.
        Thanks

          Certified copy is original.
