when should i file I-824 for my spouse

Can somebody let me know when can i file the I-824 for my spouse . I filled I-485 , i-131 , I-765 and waiting for the approval of those .
My lawyer said not as you applied for I-485 and we have the receipt .we can file I-824 for your spouse . I am confused .. on the forms instruction it says after I-485 approval i can file I-824

Can somebody throw light on it
