  • change of job after filing I485

    Hi,

I just filled for EAD/485/AP few weeks back and got receipts. Now my company is selling my department to some other company. My manager and manager's manager will remain same. My job location will not change for few months. My question is:
    • Is it anyway going to impact rest of the green card processing? How do I transfer my green card file to attorney at new company?
    • At this stage, do I need to get H1b transferred to new employee.

The transition is supposed to complete in a week, so any prompt response is highly appreciated.

    Thanks you.

ok so I went through this process recently and while I don't know your circumstances, this is what my situat6ion was, hopw it helps:

I worked for company A, that was bought out my a major international company B.
I have an H-1B visa and we had the process in play for my LPR.
When the acquisition happened, all my files got transferred from the local attorneys to the new law firm (whom I did not like), however they went ahead and notified USCIS, DOL etc of the change and took over my case. The new company B had to write a letter referencing the fact that they took over company A and it was a case in succession, ie they now are responsible.
From there, the new law firm applied for the I-131, I-140, I-485 etc and I finally got a succesful LPR from it all.
My recommendations would be: ensure that whom ever is taking over your case notifies the appropriate people of the change and request evidence from them that this has happened.
Let me know if you have any questions.
