    Hello,
Immihelp suggests to get the birth certificate with Full Name, but my school marksheets and degree certificates have initial.
Ex: Given Name in Passport : Sundar Balaji
    Surname in Passport : Prasath
Name in school mark sheets and degree certificate : P. Sundar Balaji

How should my name be there in birth Certificate ?

This is a common enough quandary with Indian names because of (a) several first names consist of more than one word (b) usual absense of middle names or non seperation.

You should get your birth certificate with your full name as PRASATH SUNDAR BALAJI or if the document allows it seperate into Surname (last name) PRASATH and Given name (first name) SUNDAR BALAJI.

Thanks Raju. I can get the BC with full name as PRASATH SUNDAR BALAJI . But, will not it be a problem since my educational certificates have just the initial? Or it doesn't matter at all?

          Birth certificate not avaialable

Hello. I have received a request for a birth certificate from USCIS - my problem is that my mother in law, born in 1936 to unknown parents, does not have the official birth certificate. Most official records from those times were lost during WWII and are no longer available. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what other documents I could use in place of the birth certificate? I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

            One more question.
Is is better not to use initials on my parents name too?
Ex: Mother's Name in Passport is just Lakshmi
Should I get birth certificate with mother's name as Lakshmi? or can it be Lakshmi.P (with initial).
