Hi All,
My husband and I went to our AOS interview today at the USCIS Office in CA and I just wanna share our experience/s. We were scheduled at 1230pm and was called to the office by the Consul around 1pm. We were sworn in ("To tell the truth and nothing but the truth..") then asked for our passports, I94 and EAD. I got a multiple entry B2 visa expiring in April of 2020 but my husband asked me to stay and told me to apply for AOS before the expiration of my I94 (which was February 03, 2012). We got married mid-October 2011 after 6 months of courtship and filed for AOS last week of December 2011.
Below were the questions asked during the interview (pretty basic questions):
1. How/When did you meet?
2. How long have you known each other?
3. Went through your answers to the I485 Application Form
4. Why marry your husband/wife?
5. When/Where did you get married?
6. When did you last enter the US?
7. Asked my hubby how much was his annual income
8. Where my hubby works
After these series of questions, I was asked about the rest of the Federal questions like, terrorism (if I was involved in any), have I ever been deported from the US, or involved in a drug trade..etc..
After answering all the questions with "NO's", he then asked for documents that we have together as husband and wife. We only showed our bank statements and informed the Officer that my husband was not able to include me on his insurance policy because there was a cut-off date on the insurance application from his company and it was too late for him to apply. Also, he didn't have joint tax returns because his accountant still has to fix few problems with his taxes last year.
The Officer didn't seem to mind and stamped my application with "APPROVED" and congratulated us on our way out. Time to get ready for the Removal of Conditions in two years...
But for now, I am soooo happy that the first interview was over and get my mind off the USCIS for more than a year!
))
I wanna thank IMMIHELP Forum for giving me a background on what to expect during the AOS process specially the interview. Again, thank you ALL! God bless.
