I485 stamping

Hi all,

I got my I485 approval notice beginning of this month (was fingerprinted end of April) and today I went and got my I551 stamp in the passport.
It was all smooth sailing and the officer only asked for my approval notice, 2 photographs and passport with I94. The whole process took about 10 minutes.
The officer however, took away my original approval notice and I noticed he put it in an envelope along with my photos and I94. Is this normal for them to take away your original approval notice?
Do you ever get it back from the USCIS or do you have to make do with copies if you ever need it?

Which Service Center did you go through?
I-485 approval 2 months after pingerprinting seems really fast!
I'm with TCS and i'm scheduled to take fingerprint in July. My petition was accepted in Feb/2005, and BCIS home page states that they are working on May/2003 case now.

Hi,

My service center is Vermont. I believe Vermont has suddenly become really efficient and most people I've spoken to, have similarly got their approval with a month or two of fingerprinting.My I_485 was filed in October of 2003 and I heard absolutely nothing from them till April of this year when they called me for fingerprints and since then the whole process just went from speed to speed!
