Missing Birth Certificate Alternatives

Hi All,

I am an Indian Citizen born in Iraq.

My employer is processing my green card and i am nearing I-485 stage.

But i do not have my Iraqi Birth Certificate. I have a birth certificate from Indian Consulate mentioning my Iraqi birth but per immihelp discussion, this certificate might NOT be applicable.

My passport does mention my Iraqi birth.

So, my question is that what alternatives do i have in this situation ? Of course, one of the options might be to contact Iraqi embassy ( which i am doing parallelly ) but given i am born in 1976, i am not sure if they will have any records.
