  • Cannot locate a Civil Surgeon for my 2 1/2 years child

Hello everyone I hope someone could help me in this matter!!!

I have a 2 and a half years old child and I'm trying to file for GC for him.

The problem is with finding a Civil Surgeon for the child.I contacted the ones listed on USCIS site, but they said that they don't examine little children.

I have contacted USCIS as well, and they said that children under 14 don't need to file I-693 form (which sounds not right, since they have specified that everyone has to file I-693 form)

Could anyone clarify this.I hope someone had similar situation.

I have tried several surgeons but all said they don't do that and that the pediatrician has to do it.I have contacted my pediatrician and he said he's not licensed for that.

I would really appreciate any help in this matter.

The same civil surgeon who does USCIS medicals will do for the kids also.
There is nothing to do in the case of kids. You should take his immunization card to him, He will fill the form and check a TB test on his arm, then after 48 hrs you have to return to him, he will check the TB test area. if its all ok then he will stamp and sign the form and attach the immunization record to form.

if your kid come from asian country, he might got TB shot, so let him know he will do the xray and after the xray report , if every thing is fine (hope) he will sign and sealed the envelop and gives to you.

I did my son at 8 with same doctor, he took his immunization card, checked his TB and he gave the report and it was accepted by the USCIS.
Go directly to the civil surgeon who does.
if you are in NYC let me know

They don't give the shot, they test on hand with small needle and after 48 hrs they recheck. If there is a swelling around the shot and it measure to > or = 5mm: a chest X-ray required (USCIS requirement). If nothing happened then every thing is fine. He will check his immunization record, and all shots are given then just he fill the from I-693 and signed and sealed/given to you.
        Required Vaccinations are:
        DT, DTP or DTaP
        Td or Tdap
        OPV or IPV
        MMR
        Hib
        Hepatitis B
        Varicella
        Pneumococcal
        Influenz
        Rotavirus
        Hepatitis A
        Meningaococcal

if any vaccination above is not in his immunization record then you should get it, which cost you. (if you get free from your son pediatecian then you can take it)

Thank you for your information. One surgeon that I called said that they won't do the TB since they only do it in adults.

I don't really know where to find a pediatrician who is licensed by immigration to the test.Or shuld I just ask my son's pediatrician to do the test?

Any advice on this. i just got stuck for a month now with this issue.

I did put the phone no of civil surgeon who does for children also. It may deleted by the Admin.

Please go to the civil surgeon in your area fill the form and till him the procedure/let him know. it is simple.

( Is your son born in foreign country? what age he came in US, and did you have all his immunization info (it may be on a immunization card)) take that card with you. In all Asian countries they give TB shot at childhood, if this happen to your son then he require a chest xray.
