maintain green card, stay out of the US due to pregnancy

Dear All,

We won DV lottery 2012 (includes my wife and 6 year old daughter). We got entry visa and first landed to the US in May 2012. But in order to prepare and move permanently we had to leave the US on June 2012. While we were in the US we obtained green card and SSN.

Now my wife is pregnant and her pregnancy requires medical care (her due date is approximately May 2013). I am wondering that, are we allowed to stay out side of the US for more than 6 month? What should we do if we won't be able to move permanently until May 2013?

Yes, you can stay out of the US for more than 6 months but less than 1 year without doing anything.

However, in order to apply for citizenship in that case in future, you may have harder time.

getting divorce after dv lottory green card

Hi, we are winner of dv lottory 2012 and my husband is the main applicant ,we went to usa and we got our green card now we came back our country to finalize our issues here to move permanently to usa but here we have got serious problem and we want to get divorce i want to know as in my green card it is mentioned category DV2 after divorce may I loose my green card and will be there any problem for being citizenship ?? Please tell me the complete reply as its very important to me
