  • German Creencard, and after ?

I just write this to get some informations : I'm the first of the only 3 German greencard holders from my country (DRC) and I now live with my wife and our daughter in Germany where I'm working.

Being here since October 2000, I would like to know what should (could) happen to us after the end of the 5 years ? Would I be able to apply for 5 more years ? Will I get automatically 5 more years ? Would I be asked to leave the country ?... So many questions and nobody to give me the real answers.

    Thanks.

This is actually not the right forum for that, since this forum is about the US Greencard.
But since I know a bit about the German "Greencard", let me explain this:
The socalled German "Greencard" actually is a misnomer. It is more like the US H-1B visa. After the 5 years, you have to leave. AFAIK, there is no extension.
There also is no path to a permanent residence. In light of this, the German "Greencard" actually @#%$'t overly attractive.

I don't know what this text mangling is about, what I said in the sentence is that "the German "Greencard" i s n 't overly attractive."
