Post carrying GC returned to INS, wrong PIN

Called up INS TSC today (FINALLY got through!!).
They said the post returned ( thank God, at least not lost, otherwise $110 gone ) on Dec 18th.
Checked the address with me. He mentioned everything was right except for the PIN #.
Now, my wife's card was also sent by them the same time. She got it and the pin was right for her.

Whatever, they updated the address and said I will get my card in another 30 to 45 days.

Hoo!! All smiles now .

How I got through their (214) 381-1423..
Started dialing from 7.11AM texas time.
Got a ring and stayed connected from 7:33AM.
At 8:30AM, got through to an INS officer.

When did the INS mailed your card ?
When did they received it back ?

The PIN as in the one in the address.

They sent it on 15th Nov. It bounced and they received the card back on Dec 18th.

The whole adress was correct except for the pin code. My wife received her card around Nov 11th or so, and in that, everything was correct, including the pin #.

Anyways, will wait for another month and see what happens this time.

There is no PIN in an address. Do you mean the Zip code?

I am so used to calling it PIN ( thats what they call it in India )...

Received a welcome to US letter from INS

dated the day I called to change my address. The letter mentions that I should receive the card within 3 weeks. I guess my call woke them up .

finally, got it....

Okay.
Date of Entry 24th July 2001 from JFK.
Wife received GC plastic card on Nov 15th 2001.
I waited patiently. Called INS TSC on Jan 30th. They said wrong address. Card had returned to them. Verified that the address they had in the computer was correct. ( Wonder how they posted to wrong addr then !! ).
Said card will be delivered in 3 weeks. 6 weeks passed. Called them on March 15th. INS said, "we don't know why ur card was not posted yet! Will request post now. Should receive it in the next 3 weeks !". Which, I finally did . March 24th, 2002.

They had the same old envelope but pasted new address on them. Found the mistake in the address. The house # was wrong! A '6' was mistyped as '9'.
Jees! Made me suffer so much. It came to my neighbor and returned on Nov 15th. Boo hoo...

Anyways, my relationship with INS has I suppose come to some kind of end ( for some time ).
