  • B-2 Visa upon entrance by Green card?

Hello! I was absent in US for 1.5 months renewing my foreign passport. I'm a permanent Green card holder until 2022, good guy, paying taxes etc. Upon entry to US they checked my green card and at home I realized they put a B-2 (visitor visa) in my passport. Is it a mistake? What does it mean?
    Thank you

    Cobra,

Please clarify what you are reporting:

    1. If you renewed your passport in your home country, nobody in your country's passport agency had the means to give you a B2 visa. One must apply for a B2 visa through a U.S. consulate or Embassy.

    2. I suspect that the Port of Entry staff stamped your passport with "B2" mistakenly.

When you say that "They" put a B-2 visa in your passport, Who is "They?"

      1. No. I didn't renew any visa in my country, only the passport.
      2. They - I meant the customs workers in the US aeroport.

What I actually got is a stamp saying "ADMITTED. B-2 MAY 7 2014" (so strange, why that date?).

It was a mistake. The "May 7" is the expiration date for a routine 6-month B2 stay.

It might be prudent to get an INFOPASS appointment, explain the issue in person, and get a USCIS person to annotate a correction in your passport.

        An INFOPASS appointment

Thank you for the answer! I just tried to apply for the INFOPASS, but the system says "At this time, there are no information appointments available for the office in your area".
May I just go without an appointment to the Deferred Inspections Site in the airport I arrived to?

            Cobra,

Returning to the airport/Port of Entry and getting a correction on entry annotation has worked for some if you don't wait too long.
