  • Sometimes I think I could become an Immigration lawyer...

With so much (unusful) knowledge about US Immigration law (acquired during the long period of my GC application) I can probably become an immigration lawyer myself (or at least a paralegal...) (in case things will turn real bad in Hi-Tech...)

I'm sure lots of you feel the same way...

FYI. This web site is the result of all the painful visa/greencard stuff I had to go through. This website is from an immigrant, to future immigrants.

How long did you have to wait for passports in TLV after interview? There was a question in CP section.

        I know I don't know a lot. I know mostly about mainstream EB2/3.
Problem is, I feel many lawyers are also in the dark. And their first allegiance (after them selves) is to the companies that pay the bills.

I agreed with you 200%, abu.

I have seen so many times that the lawyer is unable to answer simple thing. One has to admit that this is a ocean. But, experience of seeing so many complicated issues here would make one to think like that. It would not be bad for lawyers to check these forums once in a while to see wide variety of issue that crop up.

Re: Sometimes I think I could become an Immigration lawyer..

I was actually joking about the possibility to become a paralegal myself...
But anyway, there are lots of bad lawyers out there, who know less than I do. On the other hand, the good lawyers know stuff I never dreamt about.
In dealing with my own lawyer, I found him very knowledgeable. My lawyer was the one who suggested going the RIR route for the LC, which sped up my case considerably. The only problem was that his paralegals weren't the brightest. One of them nearly botched the RIR filing, because they delayed it a month, and that meant we had to run more ads. Since then, I found that it is helpful to doublecheck what they do, and in doing so, I acquired quite some knowledge about this whole thing. But of course, my knowledge is limited to what I encountered during my own case, and what I read when searching for stuff in the law.

Abu Lafya and JoeF has been very good help in answering questions on this board. Thank you very much. I appreciate it. As you know, this is community effort. And unlike these people, many would just come looking for answers and information for free and then never bother about others when they are done.

Wow, who awoke this sleeping beast from 2002?

I am glad people are using the search function and looking at past threads though.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
