Traveling abroad while waiting for my plastic GC

Hi All,

I have been told by a inmigrant lawyer that i can not re-enter to US if i don't have my plastic GC but, i see here i this forum that my entry stamp at POE is a permanet prove of residency and i can re-enter to US with it, i'm really confused, i have to travel back to Dominican Republic for work until i receive my GC and come back to US later this year.

Can i travel and wait for my green card abroad? Will i be admited back to US if i don't received my plastic GC?

This is the same story for my 9 years old boy.

I had a similar situation some years back, but i travelled back to my work place and when the GC arrived to my US address, my family sent me my GC by courier, so i had my GC with me when i re-entered next time.

Your I-551 annotation in your passport is usually dated with a one-year expiration, and it allows you the ability to travel and reenter the U.S. until that expiration date.
