Hello
I was wondering if someone can help me. Basically I lived in the US with a green card for around two years before abandoning it voluntarily in March of this year. Now I'm looking to sort out tax for this year but wondering if I should be filing form 8854 with the IRS. From what I have read this only applies to 'Long-Term Permanent Residents'. This definition of this is stated as "You are an LTR if you were a lawful permanent resident of the United States in at least 8 of the last 15 tax years". This clearly doesn't apply to me. I'm wondering if ALL green card holders who have abandoned their status must file 8854, or just Long-Term Permanent Residents'.
Thanks
Andrew
