Entering after 25 months with valid reentry permit

I'm a green card holder. I've been out of the country since 17th Dec 2012. I have a reentry permit that I applied while I was in the US. The reentry permit expires on 16th Jan 2015.

Is is safe for me to enter the country on 14th Jan 2015 since the reentry permit is still valid? Or would it be an issue since I'll be out of country for more than 24 months?
