  • GC Renewal Delay?

I applied for GC 10-year renewal in May 2014 and got fingerprinting done around June 25th 2014. Haven't received the new GC or any letter - it's more than 6 months now. The USCIS case status website also has no update. I registered a query 3 weeks ago but haven't got any reply as yet. The priority date website (which was updated Oct-31 2014) says that they are processing July 2014.

Is anyone aware of current delays in GC renewal? Can I do anything other than wait?

    Thanks.

If you have to travel outside the U.S., it might be feasible to get an I-551 stamp (temporary Permanent Resident proof) in your passport at a USCIS office with an INFOPASS appointment.

      GC Renewal Delay?

Ray - thanks for your reply. My old GC was extended till Feb 2015 at the time of finger printing - so, I have some time before that expiry. However, I have just left the US and plan to return in March.

Depending on where you apply it might take longer. Vermont is 6 months to a year. While California is 4 months to 6 months. I applied mine on July 16 2014 and went for finger printing on the 8th of august 2014 and receive an interview letter with my wife on November 5 2014. The Application was approved 23rd December 2014 and gc was received by 3rd of January 2015. I would say carlifonia is faster. Good luck with your gc renuwal.

Thanks Will. Mine is probably at Vermont since I applied in CT and that probably explains the delay.
I guess, yours was a new GC application - As far as I know, there is no interview for 10-year GC renewal.

I also applied in May and got my fingerprints done in June 12. Hadn't received anything after that. I called several times and didn't get an appropriate answer. I applied because of incorrect name on my green card. I made inquiry on Dec 5, 2014 and got back email from USCIS on Jan 6,2014. I just wanted to correct my name so I can apply for naturalization. I have been PR since Oct 2007. I made infopass appointment on Wednesday, Jan 7 and the agent told me I can apply for Naturalization and we will change your name at time of interview. You probably want to apply for N-400? Or you aren't eligible yet? BTW I applied my filing location was Phoenix and closest office near me is in Sacramento.

Here is the email I got:

              GC Renewal Delay?

I got the same e-mail as Jot18. However, my problem is that I am outside the U.S. and my current GC is valid till February end. However, I may not get my new GC till June 2015 and
I want to return in Mar/Apr. One option is to just return before Feb end. Is there any other option that will allow me to return after Feb end but before June 2015?

              Thanks.

                will

Not in all cases but they asked for an interview with my application in my own case and I got approved on the spot with my spouse.
