  • Possible to apply for green card before six months prior to expiration date?

I read that if I send a green card renewal application before the six month period prior to the expiration date (e.g., if my card expires on July 30, I have to apply after January 30, not before), USCIS might reject the application. But how early is too early? Is it possible to send the application (including e-filing) a few days, or even a week or two before that six month period begins?

What I meant was how early I can apply. Tthe USCIS website says 6 months before expiration is the earliest someone can apply for renewal, but I was wondering how flexible they would be about that time window. Perhaps if I were to send in an application one or even two weeks earlier than that 6 month window, would they still reject it as having come in too early?
