can I change my name after green card approved ?

Hi, folks

On November 21, I arrived at Chicago Port-of-Entry for the temporary green card stamp. So it's kind of a relief and happy thing to be the new immigrant.

Now I'm thinking that is there a process for the new immigrant person to change the name ?
If there is one, could you please tell me what kind of forms and procedures to follow ...

My information:
EB3, NSC, single.

Form I-90 is to be filled out for that. $110 is the fee.

At Mumbai consulate at the time of interview, my wife was asked if she wanted to add any other name
in the form. As she was still using her maiden name, she gave the new name and it was printed in visa under other name column. Can this be treated a name change or does she have to file amendment in this regard.

Can someone please clarify ?

You may want to wait until she gets the card. If the card does not have her "other name", then you can file I-90 at your local INS office. Explain them what happened at the time of the interview and they may waive the fee of $110.

FYI

I just came back from the local INS office about my first name screw-up on the card. I was told that they have to get the my file from Texas/Nebraska, which they will get in about 45 days. Then I have to go again and request the name change. At the time they can verify from the file if it was INS mistake or not.

What if the plastic card does not have the other name

does anything else needs to be done beside filing I 90 and fees. The passport still has the maiden name.
