I'm having a hard time understanding the whole re-entry permit process. I am currently doing my thesis in my country of birth and is almost a graduating and went back here in the US so that my green card wouldnt be void. I'm planning to file a re-entry permit so that I could finish everything needed from my studies without worrying much about the risk of having my green card go to waste and I would like to ask the following questions:
1) The letter that I'd be sending the USCIS should it contain what?
(I read through some forum posts here that there is a need for a cover letter and form 131.)
2) Is there any documents needed other than what I think is needed?
3) How will I pay the $360 form fee and $85 Biometrics fee?
4) Where should I put the 'EXPIDITE' in the letter? And do I need to put it?
5) How long will the process be?
