  • Can I travel overseas if I have my green card and AUS passport with my maiden name?

I received my US residency card last year, and it is in my maiden name. I have since gotten married, and on my marriage license I changed my last name - it still contains my maiden name, it's just now a hyphenated name.

My green card and Australian passport both still have my maiden name, as I haven't gotten the chance to change them yet. Am I allowed to travel to Australia and back to the US using these, or do I have to get them changed to show my new last name before I can travel?

I've been googling this for an hour and I'm consistently getting conflicting information. Any advice or information would be appreciated!

Your Australian passport allows you to board a plane in the U.S. and enter Australia.

Your Green Card allows you to reenter the U.S.

Carry a copy of your marriage certificate with you.
