green card expired, and re-entry permit will expire June 25th

I currently have a work visa in Canada as a Filipino citizen. I had a U.S. green card but it expired last October. My re-entry permit to the US expires next month. Is it possible to go back to the US soon without any problems with the immigration and customs? Thanks.

the last time I went to America was Sept 2014. since thats less than 12 months being away from the U.S, does that mean I dont need a transportation letter?

Your question has nothing to do with your expired Green Card. If you try to reenter the U.S. without a current GC, are are at risk for being considered to have abandoned your Green Card status.

If you applied for a renewal of the GC with form I-90, I wouldn't venture to say whether that might "cut any ice" when you try to reenter, even with the I-90 receipt.

Make every attempt to reenter the U.S. before your Reentry Permit expires. If you succeed in reentering before the Reentry Permit expires, your existing I-90 receipt for a Green Card renewal may get you past the gate.

A "transportation letter" might only be available for a lost or stolen Green Card.
