  • Signed document for employment change @ interview

Does anyone remeber the details of a paper one signs [given by the consulate] at the time of the interview? The paper is pertaining to "letting the nearest INS office know if one decides to change the employment after the greencard". I don't remember the details on the sheet I had to sign, that's why I'm asking.

    Rockstar:

I recall reading that we agree to work for our current employer after getting our I-551 stamp. There was no mention of how long we have to. I do not recall the "going to INS part" but would hazard to guess that in the event you decide not to work for your crrent employer as soon as you get your I-551 you ought to notify the INS about your intentions.

Get a second opinion on this.

as far as I recall, it only talks about informing the local consulate of any change in employer, before landing in US.

satgc is correct. You have to notify them only if you don't report to your employer after entering with immigrant visa. You do NOT have to notify anyone to change jobs if you report to your sponsoring emloyer after entering.

              Rockstar,

I had read this paper very carefully. It said 1) if there is a change in status of employment before you entered the US.... or 2) not joining employer after...

It did NOT put any clauses on length of stay with current employer
