Hi! I'm having a bit of a hard time trying to figure out how to go about changing my last name. My green card is expired and I am about to reapply. I'm married and would like to change my last name. From what I have been able to learn, I have to have a up-to-date green card to reply for a new ID, SSN, ect to change my name... Do I need to have already changed my last name legally on other documents before having it reflected on my new green card? Or will I have to apply with my maiden name and pay to reapply with my new name once getting the other documents in order? please tell me I can just apply with my married name and then change it on other documents!
