Questions upon getting Green Card
Hi,
I was selected in the GC lotteryand received my Immigrant visa.
I'm about to fly to the US soon before the visa expiry and here are my sort of issues...
I'm not yet fully sure if I'm doing the right thing since currently I have my parents, dog and good job here (Israel).
I know that many people try to be "smart" and do what I'm thinking of doing but still I need some info on how to do this the right way and legally.
I'm about to fly to the US for 2 weeks just to receive the Green card for now and than go back and do my "thinking" and re enter the US within the next year (still not sure if to stay or not)
I do know that I can't do that every year cause I will lose my GC but still, how can I sort of postpone my move?
And, when I get to the US, at the airport what exactly will happen? the officer will see my visa and send me to sort of specific immigration office? how long does that process take and what should I know about it?
Another thing that i didn't fully understand, when I get the Green Card I'm still not a US citizen, when and how (if at all) do I become a US citizen? what are the basic difference between the 2?
