Hi!

My wife had to leave us on an emergency in Nov. 05. She may not return until june 06. Is she breaking the requirement of 6 months residency. I was under the impression that the six month period is per year. Can any one clarify this. I am not sure a stay for more than 6 months can create some problem for the reentry.

Hi

Well I dont think it will be any problem at all ..since the law says U need Re-Entry permit only if U are planning to be out of the country for more than 365days ..U are good even if U come back after 11 months ..the only thing is that year will not be counted for citizenship requirement since U have violated the requirement for citizenship and U will have to go for another year for that and then that 6 months residency in an year applies ..U can go to US immigration web site called : uscis.gov and then read " Now that U are a permanent Resident " and read it carefully ..what it means ..these views are only to the extent of my personal knowledge and are not of any professional nature so please double ck. before taking any steps since we are in Forum ..
