  • Traveling With Expired Green Card?

I didn't realize that my green card expired 5 months ago. I intend to travel overseas in April 2016. It was a non-conditional green card with a 10 year validity, btw.

Do I have any options or must I abandon my travelling plans (which I would hate to do)?

Thank you all for reading and responding!

      Hi Houstonian123,

Travelling outside U.S.A with an expired green card will be too risky. To re-enter the United States, the Customs & Border Protection (CBP) officer will require valid proof of your lawful permanent resident status.Expired Green Card will not be a valid proof of your permanent resident status.
