  • Green Card Expiring While Citizenship Processing

    Hi,

We just realized that both of my parents' green cards are expiring in two days (they are living in the U.S.). However my dad's citizenship application is under processing. He has already been through the finger-printing and the interview. However in his interview they asked him to provide clearance from the Police since his fingerprints were not clear enough for them. He has already submitted the Police clearance as well (about 3 to 4 weeks ago) but he hasn't received any acknowledgement of the receipt of Police report yet, nor any approval of citizenship.

So I guess my question is should he apply for green card renewal? There is a fee of $450 and if he doesn't have to we don't want to.

We will definitely go ahead and apply for my mom. But my concern is that her green card will expire in the next couple of days, but her renewal won't be approved (I doubt that's gonna happen in couple of days even if we apply today :-)), so that would mean there will be time when she will be in the US with expired green card but with pending renewal application. I hope that won't be a problem for her when we will file for her green card 10 years later with interview waiver.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Apply for U.S. Citizenship, naturalization from N-400

Apply the U.S. Citizenship fro N-400 to get the U.S. Citizenship based on the norms avail on USCIS office.

there won`t be problem for your parents even they applied means then you can show the filing papers with them.

    Thanks
