Elaborate this term 3 years and 18 months

* Have continuous residence in the United States as a lawful permanent resident for at least 3 years immediately preceding the date of filing the application
* Reside continuously within the United States from the date of application for naturalization until the time of naturalization
* Be physically present in the United States for at least 18 months out of the 3 years immediately preceding the date of filing the application

Can anyone elaborate these terms because it is little confusing ?

I have completed 3 months in the US and if I complete more 15 months then I will be eligible to get citizenship in 3 years. Lets say if I my landing date in US is Jan 7th 2016 so I will be completing 18 months by 7th July 2017. Now if I stay outside US for the rest of 12 months and come back at time of getting citizenship. Is what the above law applies here ?

Hi,

Can anyone or expert please reply on it. I am looking for accurate reply on my query because I have to make travel plans accordingly. I have completed 3 months in USA and if I complete 15 months in USA more in order to complete 18 months physical presence. Further 12 months I have plan to spend outside the USA so I will complete my 3 years bracket.

I really want someone to answer exactly on the following situation so I make arrangements.
