No Green Card yet

Hi! I arrived here in USA last August 2015 and my I-551 on my passport will expire soon and I don't have my green card yet, can I work here in USA even if I only have the temporary I-551 and can I enroll in schools using this? And if it expires, and my green didn't arrive yet, what should I do? Please help.

Apply new Green Card

IF you applied the Green card please wait for max upto 6 weeks to get the new Green card.

Then you will permit to work in the U.S.

Hello maksumerich,

You may renew your I-551 stamp prior to the expiration date. The stamp can be renewed 6 months with the proof of non availability on the date of expiration.
You may get it renewed in person at the local INS Office for the area of the US in which you live.
