Hi! I paid for my GC last Feb 11,2016 and in the middle of March I moved to a new address, I called USCIS and changed my address online. I was advised that I will get my GC by June 4 but it's already July. I was wondering if I can get any document or any stamp from the immigration that will allow me to come back here in the USA without having any problem. Thank you!

The I-551 stamp in your passport allows you to travel outside the country for up to a year (based on the expiration date on the stam/annotation)

It's taking as long as 4 months for the Green Card to show up after paying the $165 fee. In my experience, USCIS telephone staff are unable to give you a real answer about when your Green Card will show up, or even its current production status. By moving and having a new address, you may have complicated things even further, because you have no way of knowing if your new address was attached to your Green Card delivery file.
You can try to get the I-551 stamp updated with an INFOPASS appointment, and that may give you some breathing room, if they will update the I-551 stamp.
Otherwise, after waiting at least 4 months from when you paid the $165 fee, you can then submit form I-90 to report nondelivery of the Green Card and to ask for a replacement.

\Originally posted by Jeun View PostThank you for the reply! My visa was issued last July 7,2015 so I assume that my I-551 stamp will expire July of this year, am I right? Is there a way that I can get the validity of the stamp extended? I've been here for almost 1 year and I just need to get my diploma from the Philippines to start school. Thank you so much for you reply, I really appreciate it.

I could just call USCIS to get an Infopass appointment right? Will they be needing any other documents from me aside from my passport?(since I don't have my gc yet) I was wondering if you have an idea if they have requirements for me to meet to get the extension or do I just have to pay? Sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions since I don't think I can trust them that much anymore because they gave me false hopes about when I was getting my greencard. Thank you!

Hi I got my infopass appointment on July 19, 2016 and my I-551 stamp will expire on July 7, 2016. Will I have any problems with getting my expired stamp extended? Because I've read other forums, they said that you need to schedule infopass prior to expiration.

I haven't heard that scheduling or being at INFOPASS must be done before GC expiration.

[QUOTE=Jeun;460596]Okay thank you so much! Do I have to pay for anything? On my infopass confirmation, it says that I just have to bring some papers or documents that are about my issue. I only have the letter from uscis about my change of address with the receipt number on it. I don't know what else to bring since the people that I talked to on the phone told me that I need to wait for a couple of weeks before filling out an I-90 because the greencard may arrive anytime soon. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you so much appreciated!

I-551 extensions are usually completed during the INFOPASS interview.

Great thank you! For example if I get approved for the extension, do they get my passport and just mail it to me or do I get stampped the same day of my appointment?
