Re-entry permit during renewal, and GC for spouse

Situation:
Boy has Green Card, 10-year expiry date is July 2017. No plans to get Citizenship.
Girl is from India.
After marriage, it takes ~2 years for girl's GC to get approved after waiting dates.
During that time, Boy plans to stay with girl in India. Then return with her to US after she gets GC.

For this to happen, Boy needs to do 3 things, all within short time period of each other :
- apply for re-entry permit
- renew GC
- apply for spouse GC

Is this feasible ? Anyone done something similar? Any major reasons for getting denied for above applications, or precautions to take?
