  • Going Abroad 1st Week of October - Re-entry Permit Application Time.

    Hello,

I am going to the UK for an extended period of time in the first week of October 2017. I will need a re-entry permit and I know I will need to apply for an I-131 and get my biometrics taken whilst on US soil.

My question is how long does it take and which month do you recommend I make the application for me to get it in time before I leave.

Also, if the re-entry permit does not come in time before I leave, can I have it redelivered to the Consulate/Embassy in the UK?

    Thank you.

UPDATE - I called the USCIS to get approximate filing and decisions times for I-131, and the representative according to the current status of applications it will take around 4 to 5 months to receive the re-entry permit (assuming it has been approved).

I guess the main issue is to complete the Biometrics while you are still in US Soil.

How long did the rep say it will take from FORM submission to the Biometrics reading?

Once that is done, you can just go out of the country (provided your re-entry permit is approved and sent to your chosen location - US address or Embassy)
