Question regarding waiver of joint filing of I 751

I am on CR1. My US ciitizen spouse is going to divorce me. We loved each other, but we have had our share of ups and downs due to which our marriage is in trouble. I have come back to home country due to unavoidable circumstances.

I had started applying in universities for my MS. But now I wonder, what after my CR1 is expired? Will I be able to apply for the conditions to be removed? or should I give the conditional green card up and apply for a student visa?

I am confused.

You should apply for Removal of Conditions on the basis of divorce when you get into the 90-day window (90 days before your 2-year card expires) or when the divorce is final, whichever is first.
