  • Green Card Returned for Wrong Information

We had to return my wife's green card because they got her middle name wrong. That was 3 months ago. Has anyone out there had to do this and can you tell me how long it took to get the new one?

    Thanks!

Thanks Michelle - that's what I was afraid of. It's been 3 months already and we were hoping to travel overseas for Christmas.

don't let the lack of green card prevent your wife from traveling abroad. She IS a United States Lawful Permanent Resident, with all the rights & responsibilities thereof

she can take her I-90 filing receipt to a USCIS field office (preferably with an InfoPass appointment) and get an I-551 stamp in her unexpired foreign passport. That stamp will carry the full force & effect of a green card

Thank you so much. We did call and they said we would need to bring 2 passport photos - I wonder why? A passport stamp seems much easier. Maybe they've changed their procedure? Anyway, InfoPass appointments seem to be very hard to get these days. Apparently you have to log in at midnight to be first in line.
