  • Recorded days of stay will be removed after 6 months absence?

Hi, I ergently need some answers for my question so I?ll be gratful if anyone can help me.
My parents got their USA green card year 2012 and they have landed several times, last time was Nov 2016 until july 2017
This year they got problem and decided not to travel to USA.
They wonder if their previous stays will be removed After 6 months absence?
    Or after 1 year absence?
Does it re-start counting days for filling the 2 years again?
They wanted to fill the 2 year stay for getting the citizenship, thats why even the weeks which recorded are important for them.
Thank you again for the help.

I think you are referring to continuous residence for naturalization purposes. They need to have 5 years of "continuous residence" to be eligible for naturalization. An absence of between 6 months and 1 year is presumed to interrupt continuous residence, but this can be overcome with strong evidence. An absence of more than 1 year definitely interrupts continuous residence. If their continuous residence is interrupted, they need to start over counting continuous residence again.

But the bigger problem is that if they are outside the US so much, they might be considered to have abandoned residence, and lose their green card.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
