  • Infopass appointment to get a i-551 stamp

    Hi all,
I applied for removal of condition on my GC almost a year ago, and since I've been using the extension letter as proof of my residency status. However the expiring date is approaching, and I have a little more than 90 days left. I have scheduled an infopass appointment with my local office, and it happens to be exactly 90 days before the expiration of my extension letter. I haven't been able to find if there's a date that's *too early* for an infopass appointment to get a i-551 stamp. Could anyone kindly let me know?
Thank you! I hope my post makes sense.

They started issuing 18-month extension letters in June to people whose Removal of Conditions were still pending at that time; you didn't get one yet?

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

No! Not at all! I went to the infopass appointment last week, and they told me they don't give one-year 551 stamp anymore. Instead, they only give out 6 months! Did they just mail you one? Do you need to apply for one?

The gave you inaccurate information. They are required to give you the stamp. read through the USCIS website.

No, please read my reply again. They are not refusing to give me an i-551, just not the one-year one, but 6-month.

Got it! I am just making sure you are treated fairly. Typically the stamp is valid for 1 year.

Looks like instead of a 18 month letter they gave you 18 months of stamps. Maybe 18 months is all they are allowed to do.

                Correct Answer is this

When I went there at the 60 day mark, they said it is too early, and asked me to come back at the 30 day mark. So, 30 days is the correct answer..
