Hi,
My 10 year green card expires in Sep 19. Last month, I used my card as proof of identity at a DMV and the agent told me the card did not authenticate. I confirmed my status is good using e-verify. It is not clear if my card is damaged in some way. I was previously planning to apply for a renewal in Mar 19 (at the start of the 6 month window) but I am wondering if I should apply now using a card damaged reason instead of a renewal reason.
1. Does anyone have any insight into any pros/cons for the 2 options?
2. Is there any safe way to confirm if my card is indeed damaged?
