i-751 with 18 months extension

My conditional green card expired on feb 2018, but my company did apply for renewal during dec 2017. After which, I got the biometrics appointment done and got the receipt notice for 12 months extension of work authorization and travel. During aug 2018, I also received the second extension notice for 6 more months (18 months in all), due to the processing times for removing conditions on permanent residents increased to 20-24 months. So, theoretically I hold valid status till august of 2019.

I have a travel plan this weekend, and i have been trying to confirm with my lawyers that travelling with a valid passport, expired gc and the two extension receipts should not pose any issue ? If anyone have a first hand experience or issues while travelling with these documents without a i-551 stamping in their passport, please share. The rule for this is not clear anywhere and i am getting conflicting responses, i am freaking out a little with my travel date nearing. Any pointers/insights may help

You remain in valid status for as long as your I-751 is pending, even after the expiration of your extension letter. You just won't have documentation to prove that status after August 2019. The expired GC + 18-month expiration letter works as proof of permanent residency for all US government purposes, including work and travel (though sometimes airline staff may not be familiar with it), until Aug 2019.

By the way, assuming you are still married to your US citizen spouse, you should be eligible to apply for naturalization under the 3-year rule by now (you can file up to 90 days before the 3-year mark). Applying for naturalization may help speed up adjudication of your Removal of Conditions application.

I have the 18 months extension also expiring August 4th 2019, and I've been traveling a lot internationally and never had any problems..... within 30 days of the expiration date of your extension, you can call and set an appointment at your local office for a temporary stamp in your passport
