didn't renew GC when i was 14

i am 18 now and i got my green card when i was 9. i am currently studying in the states and i just found out that i have to renew the green card when i was 14, which i didn't.
my green card doesn't expire till april 07, will i have trouble getting back into the states if i travel this december? i just filed for renewal online. uscis wouldn't give me the stamp for temporary proof. help!
