Hi,
We have a green card for about 2 years now and have decided to relocate to India permanently. We would
like to apply for re-entry permit just to make sure we have the option of coming back to US in case things do
not work out well there. However, if we are able to adjust fine, we plan to abandon the green card after
the reentry permit expires after 2 years. I would like to find out what implications this might have in case
there is a need to apply for non-immigrant visa to US (like for business travel or tourism purposes) after
the abandonment. I was told that it will be very difficult for any subsequent visas to get approved
once I abandon the GC. Is that right? What do people who want to relocate to India permanently do in this
case?
