  • question about last name!

    hi!
I got married and i have changed my last name(husband's last name) then my green card came with this last name(husband's last name) but my passport has my maiden name on it.
now i am afraid will i have any problem to return back to USA? when i go to my country to visit my parents. Because at the entry point i know they will look my greencard and my passport and they will see my last name is different.
Is this really going to be a problem or it wouldn't?
    Thanks.

I had a somewhat similar situation. I'd added my married name as a hyphenated last name in my CG application, but my passport only had my maiden name. But the USCIS made a fortunate error in processing and instead of hyphenating, wrote my maiden name as my last name and my husband's last name as my first name. So even though my last name remained the same, my fist name was different between the GC and passport. I travelled abroad with this GC twice without any problems.

I now have bigger problems since I just lost my GC and I'm scheduled to travel again in May Hope everything works out ok for you. Just in case, I'd carry the marriage certificate with you which would prove the name change.
