I am a citizen, born in the U.S. My wife has the initial 2-year green card. We returned to the Philippines for the birth of our child, and have been gone about 8 months now. I was under the impression she could stay away a year. What's this about 6 months? Where would I find these rules? Also is it necessary for her to go all the way to the U.S. within a year, or is Guam or Saipan okay? The U.S. Consul in Cebu said the limit was a year.
