  • DV Immigrant - never received green card - need to travel

I am a DV immigrant and have entered the U.S. in July 2006. My green card was mailed to me, but I never received it, so I have filed form I-90 (Application to Replace a Permanent Resident Card) with reason code "b" with the California Service Center (CSC) in February 2007. The CSC is processing June 2006 I-90 forms at this point, so it will surely take several months before my February 2007 application is processed (probably more so because I have also moved from my old address), but my mother is very sick and I need to travel overseas to see her soon.

Question: If I submit the form I-131 (Travel document/Re-entry permit) and leave the U.S., will the Immigration Officials allow me to re-enter the U.S. with just the Travel document (I never received my green card so I will not have it with me when I return)?

I would appreciate your help on this. Thanks!

    Ruma
