  • Going outside USA

    Hi there,

I am in the process of getting my green card, I applied for it, INS received my application and replied to me with a letter of confirmation, which I received not so while ago. I have expired passport of my country and didn't apply for U.S. travel passport yet.
Will I be able to go outside United States in this situation without any problems, or I am in trouble, if I go?
I don't plan to visit the country I am originally from and I have asylum status in USA. I heard of some sort of stamp I can get at Local INS office, which you can use instead of green card, or travel passport, is that right?

    Thank you in advance!

    Erik

You need to get a travel document first. File form I-131, available at /us-visa-and-immigration-forms/
