Returning To Usa After Getting Green Card

Me and my family live in Dubai .We came to USA in JUL 2007 got our Green cards and left back for Dubai in AUG 2007.Now we will be returning back to USA in JAN 2008.My question is will we have any problems?.I dont understand one thing!! when we travelled out of USA from JFK there was no immigration at all,how the USA immigration determines our lenght of stay outside USA?.Can anybody help me?

You should not have any problems.

It is up to you to keep count of how long you were out. If there is any question ever, you will have to prove you didn't violate any rules. Keep boarding passes etc. with you.
