Going abroad GC expired

Hello,

My Green Card expired and I have applied for a renewal.They have extended the GC temporarily upto March before they can send the renewed GC.I am planning to go abroad.Do I have to return before March end or can I stay back for a longer time and my husband can mail me the GC when it arrives?

He can mail you the GC. Just make sure you do not stay abroad for more than 6 months.
